Nawaz records concern for missing persons
ISLAMABAD - President Pakistan Muslim League (N), Muhammad Nawaz Sharif expressing his concern over growing number of missing persons in the country said that there is no room for such activities in a civilized country like Pakistan.
Addressing a ceremony for the distribution of funds among the families of the missing persons on Tuesday Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan resembled Israel from where innocent citizens were being kidnapped.
He reiterated that hundreds of Pakistanis had been taken into custody without any law and said that if there was any evidence against them then they should be brought in courts.

Khar Follows Premier's Line | Signals ok for NATO Supply Resumption
ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar Monday indicated that Pakistan intend to restore the NATO supply suspended six months ago and causing tension between the west and Islamabad.
Addressing a press conference along with Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira here at the foreign office, the foreign minister said, “We want to move toward positive zone.”

Dr Khalil Chishti to return to Pakistan after 20 years today
ISLAMABAD: Ailing Pakistani microbiologist Dr Mohammad Khalil Chishti is set to return to Pakistan today after the Indian Supreme court allowed him to travel back on human grounds, DawnNews reported.
Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik will receive Dr Chishti on his return. Earlier the interior minister had a telephonic conversation with Dr Chishti in which he conveyed President Asif Ali Zardari’s message of well wishes to him.
The interior minister assured the Pakistani scientist of all arrangements having being made for his arrival according to the directions of President Zardari.

Nawaz vows to keep ‘third force’ out

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani has said that talks regarding resumptions of NATO supplies were being carried out according to Parliamentary recommendations.
Addressing a Chinese youth delegation, and talking to the Chinese media afterwards, he deliberated that NATO issue related to 48 countries and not just an organization.

UNITED NATIONS: UN leader Ban Ki-moon fell while playing football against diplomats and fractured his hand, UN spokesman Martin Nesirky said Monday.
The sprightly 67-year-old UN secretary general will have his arm in a cast for six weeks, Nesirky told reporters.
Ban "has a minor fracture in his left hand from a tumble while playing in the UN-diplomats spring soccer tournament over the weekend," Nesirky said, adding that Ban was "otherwise absolutely fine and in great spirits."
The UN leader apologized for his appearance when he met Panama's Foreign Minister Roberto Henriquez in his only public appointment on Monday. He joked that the fracture would not stop him writing or shaking hands.

The U.S. Embassy has categorically rejected media reports that Ambassador Munter met with banned Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed.
“Ambassador Munter has never met with Hafiz Saeed. No U.S. official has made any promises to, or agreements with, Hafiz Saeed as quoted in a section of press”, US embassy spokesperson said. Hafiz Saeed is a wanted terrorist responsible for the deadly attack on Mumbai in November 2008 that killed 166, including six Americans. Corruption surfaced yet again in Indian Premier League
MUMBAI: The Indian cricket board (BCCI) will probe allegations of corruption in the lucrative Indian Premier League following allegations made by a local television channel.
Footage from India TV appeared to show an IPL player negotiating a fee for bowling a no-ball, while another said he received under-the-table payments above his contracted fee.
Each of the nine franchises has a salary cap and the player in question has not been capped by the national team, meaning he cannot be paid more than 3 million Indian rupees ($55,700) according to IPL rules.

Malaysia beat Pakistan 2-1 to clinch Jr Asia Cup
KARACHI: Malaysia beat three-time champions Pakistan in the final to clinch their first junior Asia Cup title in 20 years in Malacca, Malaysia.
Faisal Saari and Mohd Sayyim Yusof scored for Malaysia while the Greenshirts pulled one back through Mohammad Irfan.

Islamabad: The Government has decided to increase share of power sector in Public Sector Development Program during next budget to enhance its capacity building and to eliminate load shedding from the country.
